    Dr. Scott Hannon presented Somsen: The History The Building for the Winona Heritage Preservation Commission's (WHPC) Preservation Month event. The HPC event celebrated Winona State University's (WSU) Somsen Hall's 100th anniversary.

    The event was made possible by a collaboration with the City of Winona's Heritage Preservation Commission Chair Emily Kurash Casey and Vice Chair Michael Doyle, Winona State University (WSU), WSU Archives & Special Collections (Allison Quam), WSU Marketing and Communication (Andrea Northam), WSU Facilities (Jim Gorblirsch), and the WSU Arboretum & Land Stewardship Committee (Nancy Reynolds).

    And special thank you to Dr. Scott Hannon a WSU alumnus and Winona Heritage Preservation Commissioner, WSU Administration, and WSU President Ken Janz. WSU received the WHPC's 2024 preservation award.

    A Day of Celebration of the Winona State University (WSU) Library occurred on September 17, 1999.This video documents the opening of the new library at WSU. Speakers included WSU President Darrell W. Krueger, Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, Minnesota State Representative Gene Pelowski, Minnesota State Senator Bob Kierlin, Winona Mayor Jerry Miller, Mike Swenson, and musical and student performances.

    Note: The library was later named after WSU President Darrell W. Krueger.

    Dr. Chomsky is an American professor of linguistics and know as the "father of modern linguistics." He is known for his work as one of the founders of the field of cognitive science.

The title of Abrahamson's presentation is Victims in the Scales of Justice. Abrahamson was the 25th Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the first woman to serve on this court and as a Chief Justice. Abrahamson spoke in Somsen Auditorium (now known as Harriet Johnson Auditorium).

    Mike Farrell was introduced by Joe Reed, Winona State University Director of the Kryzsko Commons Student Union.
