Abstract
Since its publication in 1997, the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling have been a source of wonder and enjoyment for readers of all ages. Yet, for the informed teacher, the novels move beyond a means of entertainment and serve as a source inspiration for students around the world to achieve their goals. Obtaining a growth mindset (Dweck, 2012) is woven throughout Rowling’s series filling its pages with lessons of adolescent accomplishment and success. Teachers can use these books to inspire their students to reach their goals through social emotional learning and growth mindset (Dweck, 2012), all while collaborating with their peers.
