    Photograph of students, almost all female, sitting in a  medieval history workshop class in Rochester, Minnesota. Instructor Emil Heintz stands behind the students.

    The photo appears on p. 17 of the August 1945 Quarterly Bulletin of the WSTC.  As the bulletin explains, "Through the stimulating leadership of Dr. M. E. MacDonald the new type of extension called the workshop was introduced in several groups located in towns with a hundred miles of Winona. Instructors are usually members of the college faculty. About 150 students were enrolled at one time."

    The photo caption is "The group shown here was studying history in Rochester, Minnesota. This class in medieval history was taught by Mr. Emil Heintz."

    Later, Dr. Heintz became director of the Rochester Evening College.

    There are also pencil markings on the back and border of the photo to size it for publication.

    The photo has a few creases on the right side and is slightly worn at the corners.
