Abstract
Assessments play a critical role in the learning process. There are many different ways to assess student learning and each assessment can determine on what level the student is learning. Students themselves also play a role in how a teacher best decides which type of assessment to use, every student is different and they each have their own way of learning. The teacher must also decide what it is they are assess, what are they looking for through that assessment. So many factors play a role in the determination of assessments and that is why there are so many different assessment frameworks. We have formal, informal, performance based, authentic and simply tried and true traditional (multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank). This article will address how differentiation of assessments on the same topic can assess different levels of student learning using personal classroom experience as evidence.
