Photograph of 15 men--6 state college presidents, 8 State Teachers College Board directors, and the Commissioner of Education.  Those who have been positively identified are: Commissioner James M. McConnell (front row, second from right); Director Stephen H. Somsen (front row, far right); President Joseph C. Brown, St. Cloud, 1916-1927 (back row, second from left); President Charles H. Cooper, Mankato, 1899-1930 (back row, fifth from left); President Manfred W. Deputy, Bemidji, 1919-1938 (back row, seventh from left); President Eugene Bohanon, Duluth, 1901-1937 (back row, fourth from right); President Raymond B. MacLean, Moorhead, 1923-1940 (back row, second from right); President Guy E. Maxwell, Winona, 1904-1939 (back row, far right).

Although not certain, the photo was likely taken on campus at the time of the quarterly meeting of the State Teachers College Board in Winona on Oct. 14, 1924. It is the only board meeting that occurred in Winona between 1923, when MacLean became Moorhead president, and 1927, when Brown left his position at St. Cloud, and one of the few meetings where all presidents and directors were present, as they are here.

The other directors not identified in the photo are Edwin J. Jones, Morris; Olaf J. Hagen, Moorhead; Orren E. Safford, Minneapolis; Charles D. Schwab, St. Cloud; Harry C. Strong, Duluth; Isaac N. Tompkins, Mankato; and Arthur P. White, Bemidji.

Photo is in poor condition.  There is a crease from top to bottom and across the bottom corners and a small tear in the left border.
