Description
Postcard of the "new library" in the Library and Kindergarten Building later called Ogden Hall (ca. 1922),, before it was damaged by fire in 1922. The interior view shows one wall of books, a card catalog, and tables and chairs. The room is empty except for a woman at the door, who may be Librarian Mary Grant.
Note: The song, “Hail! Winona” was written for the occasion of laying the cornerstone for the new Library and Kindergarten building (later called Ogden Hall) by Mrs. Charlotte B. Chorpenning of the English Language and Literature department. It “was sung by the entire school” to mark the construction of the Library Building. (Talbot, 19).
