Added later in marker are the names and subjects of 12 faculty and President Shepard: 1. Kirkpatrick - Psychology; 2. Irean Mead - English; 3. John Holzinger - Science; 4. Mr. Galbreath - Training School; 5. President Shepard; 6. Fanny Elmer - Latin; 7. Kate Sprague - Mathematics; 8. Miss Speckman - drawing; 9. Miss O'Brien, 8th & 9th graders; 10. Miss Finch - Mathematics; 11. Mr. Freeman - Chemistry; 12. Caroline V. Smith - Music and Writing; 13. Holmes - History. The numbers are written in blue ink next to the portraits on the front. Five portraits are unnumbered. The 1894-95 school catalog (p. 4) lists six other faculty members. One of these six is not pictured: Anna O. Yeaton, Critic Teacher in Model School; Elizabeth Share, Critic Teacher in Model School; Mary A. Keyes, Critic Teacher in Midel School; S. Lilian Blaisdell, Director of Kindergarten; Hattie M. Packard, Assistant in Kindergarten; and Grace D. Hopkins, Assistant Librarian and Stenographer. Hopkins is listed as the Secretary and Registrar in Ruggles (p. 256), so perhaps she was not considered faculty and is the person not pictured.
Rectangular photo pasted on postcard-style mat board. Corners show some wear and there are smudges visible on the lighter areas of the board. Written in ink below the photo: Faculty - 1894. Winona State Normal School. Photographer's watermark across bottom: Fawcett E. E. Winona, Minn.
