Leveraging Leadership with Kindness: Perspectives on Creating Caring Cultures in the Academy articulates perspectives of graduate students preparing to serve as future organizational leaders. This 21st –century eBook is the culmination of a semester’s worth of research, collaborative learning, and ideas from graduate students in an organizational leadership program. This narrative provides unique insights into the impact of kindness in leadership within several different professional spaces. Within their respective chapters, students combine research, professional experiences, interviews with university leaders, and professional expertise to showcase the importance and benefits of leading with kindness.
The fall 2025 LDRS 615 – Leadership Communications class created this document in hopes of developing solutions and enacting change within leadership spaces. The authors recognize the importance of effective leadership and embrace the challenge of acquiring expertise in communicating with empathy with the aim of making a difference in future leadership circles within academics.
