Lawrence Calvert: Hall of Fame Inductee
Lawrence Calvert came to Winona State University from Fort Dodge, Iowa and went on to become a member of some of the most successful swimming teams in WSU history.
The mark Calvert left on the WSU swimming team came from his proficiency in both the backstroke and individual medley, where he achieved all-conference honors for three consecutive years 1966, 67, 69) in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events and the 200 and 400-yard individual medley events. His success in those events also earned him first-team All-American honors in 1966 and 1967.
He went on to become president of his own insurance company in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
