Biography Information
Ralph E. Spencer: Hall of Fame Inductee
The Ralph E. Spencer Scholarship Fund at Luther L. Wright high School in Ironwood, Mich. has been named for him. At the time of his death in 1956, he was president of Ironwood Kiwanis Club and a member of the American Legion and Bessemer Elks Lodge. Spencer taught for ten years in high schools and colleges in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He has also served with the 54th Armored Field Artillery of the 3rd Armored Division in the European Theatre and received a battlefield promotion in 1st Lt. He was also decorated with the Silver Star medal, the third highest military honor in the U.S.
