Abstract

"Political education is the practice of using knowledge for action, whether its serving and educating the community or taking personal action. This is central Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, but in Dr. Klinker’s Queer Theories and Politics (WGSS 374) students were able to engage in political education beyond the class." On April 27, 2022, the WGSS 374 class were awarded the Community Engagement Program of the Year for their LGBT Books to Prisoners: Winona Display at Chapter 2 Books.

This was “presented to any group of students who planned and executed a single or series of programs/events/initiatives to benefit the community through volunteer service, fundraising, and/or community-building that provided a sense of fulfillment and a learning opportunity for its members.”
