Course Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the etiology and classification of mental disorders in children and adolescents as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5 TR). Students will learn to utilize diagnostic information to facilitate the initiation and implementation of case management strategies, treatment plan development, and therapeutic intervention with children and adolescents seeking/receiving mental health counseling services
