Course Description

This course will familiarize students to their professional and ethical responsibilities as addiction counselors. They will be introduced to the practice and policies of addiction counseling, case management, consultation, ethical and legal standards, crisis intervention, and client advocacy. Professional organizations, standards, licensure and certification will be examined. Public policy, laws, and regulations regarding addictions counseling and record keeping will be stressed so counselors are better able to serve and effectively advocate on behalf of their clients.
