Minnesota will be implementing new standards in the 2024-2025 school year, where Minnesota Native culture is incorporated. I have researched the impact of Minnesota Native American practices in a high school biology class that meets the needs of the new science benchmark, 4.2.2. Through the lengthy process of researching the historical impact of the incorporation, I met with different high school teachers and developed a curriculum for an Ecology Unit. I found numerous documents and data collections outlining teachers' need for resources and the importance of having Native American resources in school. With the new curriculum, the phenomenon of Minnesota wild rice describes the biogeochemical cycles, food webs, invasive species, conservation, and population growth.
