Course Description

This four-credit course will provide theoretical frameworks and practical skill building in the counseling of clients with sexual concerns, substance abuse and addiction issues, and crisis interventions. This course facilitates knowledge and awareness and skill development as it relates to student growth and development in preparation to work with client concerns in sensitive topic areas related to sex, addiction, and crises. Students practice application of counseling theories with simulated situations pertaining to the aforementioned sensitive topic areas. A strong emphasis is placed on the ethical standards of the counseling profession and on multicultural issues.
