Description

Fremling's field notebook for 1957 includes original notes with later annotations (1958, etc). Dated notes are from June 18-Sept 16, followed by undated notes, drawings, and a list of municipal and lockmaster contacts. Pages of main notes are numbered 1-94. Subjects cover the study of emergence periods of caddisflies, mayflies (hexagenia genus mentioned most frequently), C. campyla (Cheumatopsyche campyla), H. orris (Hydropsyche orris), and genus Potamyia. Includes descriptions of eggs, larvae, pupa. Notes also include descriptions of: emergence traps constructed to take samples of flies, sampling plates, species counts, anecdotes from lockmasters and river boat captains, weather and temperatures.
